CTT is offering all those who visit its Post offices a special stamp thanking all Portuguese people for these centuries of trust until next November 6^th, date that marks the 500^th anniversary of the postal activity in Portugal.

This stamp was presented last October 9^th, World Post Day, together with the book “500 years of Posts in Portugal”, by Fernando Moura, and tells the story of the Portuguese Posts as of November 6^th 1520, when King D. Manuel I signed the royal chart appointing Mr. Luis Homem as the first Portuguese “correio-mor”. It was the beginning of the adventure of the public postal service in Portugal; a philatelic issue on the “500 years of Posts in Portugal – 5^th Group”, a tribute to all CTT employees; and also a first-day cover, composed by the stamps, a commemorative postage stamp and a Republic coin, specially issued for this day.

Mail – the social and economic activity provided by CTT, is celebrating its 500^th anniversary and CTT decided to thank all Portuguese people for these centuries of trust with a special booklet. This booklet includes a special stamp that will not be on the market, but offered to all those who enter the CTT Post until November 6^th 2020.
